Ah yes, the big yellow bowl (BYB). My mom's was red, but it was still the great concoction bowl. With three kids we had to take turns licking the bowl vs getting the beaters or the spatula. My BYB is a stainless mixing bowl, but still it stands as a treat awaiting those who patiently bide their time 'til all the goodies are in the oven. Thanks for sharing this memory, Lynn!

Yes, there's something about the "Pok-Pok-Pok" of wooden spoons in Big Yellow (Ceramic) Bowls that just can't be found in the SCHWEEEEE of a Mixer...!!

We had a big yellow bowl too! My Mom would draw a line down the middle of the bowl and my sister could lick one half of the bowl and I got the other half. When it was my turn to go first I would secretly re-draw the line so I would get a larger portion to eat. Didn't tell my sister until 40 years later. We just laughed.

The big yellow bowl reminds me of all of the wonderful cakes my mother made while we were growing up. :)
