Oh, Lynn! Scotch Tape on the Fridge door?? That must be a cartoonists "convention", like X-shaped band-aids or celery leaves poking out of a grocery bag! Anyway, for what it's worth, "...It is reported that the first refrigerator magnet patent was obtained by William Zimmerman of St. Louis, Missouri, in the early 1970s."

it wasn't till my brother had kids that the pristine front of the family frig was allowed to showcase anything. the one time I tried to put something on the frig as a kid. I got reamed several new ones. which made me soon as I moved into my own place. the frig got decorated on all three usable sides. made my parents very unhappy that I did so.Sangelia of Minnesota
